Track URL Clicks — Free Link Analytics
Every Linkly short link is a tracking link. See how many times it was clicked, when the clicks happen, and which device, browser, operating system and language your audience uses — free, with no click cap and no account required to start.
What you can measure
Each click on a short link is recorded with a small set of useful, privacy-respecting fields:
- When: the timestamp of every click, so you can see the day-by-day pattern of a campaign.
- Device: phone, tablet or desktop — the first number that tells you how to design the landing page.
- Browser and operating system: the mix of clients your audience arrives on.
- Language: the visitor's browser language, useful for multilingual campaigns and content decisions.
In the My Links dashboard (free account), each of your links shows its click count, so comparing channels is a glance instead of a spreadsheet.
How the tracking works
Resolution happens server-side: when someone visits your short link, Linkly answers with a real 302 redirect to the destination and records the click on the way. No JavaScript is required on your destination page, no pixel to install, no script that can be blocked — the measurement is part of the redirect itself, which is why it works in email clients, messaging apps and browsers with scripts disabled.
Because it is a standard 302, search engines and other crawlers follow your links the normal way; nothing about tracking changes how the destination is indexed.
One link per channel: the tracking pattern that works
The mistake most teams make is sharing a single link everywhere and then being unable to attribute traffic. The fix is one short link per channel — one for the email, one for the social post, one for the flyer, one for the profile bio — all pointing at the same destination. After two weeks the comparison is obvious: the short links are your measurement buckets, and the destination URL stays clean.
Use cases
- Campaigns: compare email vs. social vs. print for the same landing page.
- Content: find which posts drive real clicks, not just impressions.
- Events: track registration links per table, per booth, per city.
- Print: the only way to measure a link on a poster, receipt or package — pair it with a QR code.
Privacy: what is — and isn't — stored
Click records are deliberately slim. Visitor IP addresses are not stored in raw form; only a one-way salted hash is kept, and raw request headers, cookies and bodies are never written to the click log. The fields above are the full list. Details live in the privacy policy.

Shorten a linkLink Tracker FAQ
Do I need an account to track clicks?
No. Anyone can shorten a link anonymously, and the link resolves with click tracking from the first click. An account (free) adds the My Links dashboard where you see per-link click counts and manage expiration, password protection and deletion.
What exactly is recorded for each click?
The time of the click, the visitor device type, browser, operating system and language, plus a one-way salted hash of the IP address. Raw request headers, cookies and bodies are never stored — see the privacy policy for the full list.
Is there a limit on how many clicks I can track?
No. Linkly has no click cap on any link, for any user — that is part of what the free tier includes (see pricing).
How is this different from UTM parameters?
UTMs tag the destination URL itself, so every channel shares one messy URL and the tags must be copied everywhere. With a short link, each channel gets its own clean link pointing at the same destination, and the comparison happens on the short links instead of in the analytics query string.
