Cookie Policy

Last updated: October 24, 2026

This policy explains the cookies and similar storage Linkly (shrtly.info) uses. For the broader picture on what data we collect, see the Privacy Policy.

1. Essential Cookies

  • Session cookie — if you sign in, Django stores a session cookie (sessionid) so the Service can recognize you. It is HttpOnly and travels over HTTPS only.
  • CSRF token cookie — a cross-site request forgery token, required to make form submissions (shortening a link, saving a link, signing in) safe. It is not used for tracking.

2. Preference Storage (not a cookie)

  • Theme — your light/dark theme choice is stored in your browser's localStorage. It never leaves your device and can be cleared by clearing site data.

3. Analytics (only when enabled)

  • Google Analytics 4 — when enabled, GA4 sets its own cookies (such as _ga) to count visits and usage in an anonymized form. No personal data is sent to GA4 by the app.
  • Sentry — error reporting may store an anonymous session identifier in localStorage so crash reports can be de-duplicated.

4. Managing Cookies

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. Blocking essential cookies will prevent signed-in features (managing links, analytics) from working, but shortening a link without an account remains available.

5. Changes

We may update this policy as the Service evolves. The "last updated" date above reflects the current version.
